I love a good bottle of wine and in fact my cellar (thanks to my wife) probably has nicer wines then beers most days. Gallup released this poll today showing that America is a beer nation however.
Beer has regained a comfortable margin over wine when U.S. drinkers are asked to name which alcoholic beverage they most often drink. In recent years, wine had narrowed the gap, including pulling slightly ahead in 2005 (though not by a significant margin), but for the first time since 2002, beer enjoys a better-than-double-digit advantage over wine.

Statistics also show a very steady, if not fast, growth in the micro brew world. A recent study showed that super premium, micro brews or specialty beer consumption was up 9.6 percent.

What the?
In doing some research for an upcoming post on whether these rating sites are worth taking part in, I stumbled across this ad on The Beer Spot:
I did a quick little double take and decided to click through. Wow, they are offically “Serving San Diego County With the Fastest Prescription Service and Best Craft Beer Since 1982.”
Wow, that rocks my world but scares me all at once.
I am not a big medicine guy. In fact I stay away from aspirin, Tylenol and whatever ever else people use on a daily basis to deal with life. I like my multi-grain vitamin, but I digress.
I found little evidence they sold anything other than beer on their Web site.
South Bay is located not far from a friends house in California. Guess who is getting a call tommorrow morning.

Brewed by:
Smuttynose Brewing Company
New Hampshire, United States
Style / ABV:
American IPA / 6.60% ABV
Like most Smuttynose beers this one is very well balanced. The color on pour is a light orange or dark yellow with a solid head. The lacing was very nice as it went down the pilsner glass I was drinking it in. On the palate is is slightly bitter at the end. Overall, a hoped beer but hopped nicely to spice. Hints of sweet malts in the background. Hard to go wrong here.
My Beer Advocate score: B+ / 3.9
