Place Review: McNeill’s Brewery

90 Elliot St
Brattleboro, VT 05301

This place is all about the beer, right down to the smell. I loved it though. They had a great range of their beers on tap. The bartender really didn’t say much to us just a few head nods but that was OK. A real eclectic crowd in there.

They sell growlers and bottles of select beers at the bar. They are also priced great. The best brewery for beer I have been to in Vermont hands down.

Their labels are all hand drawn and it seems pasted on by hand as well. I was most impressed with this place being all about the beer. That was refreshing compared to several other Vermont Breweries I have been to. By far the most interesting and unknown of the Vermont breweries.

I was very impressed with the Champ Ale  and the Imperial Stout.

You can find their beer list here.

Review: Paulaner Salvator

July 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Brewed by:
Paulaner Salvator Thomasbraeu AG
Germany

Style / ABV:
Doppelbock /  7.90% ABV

A very orange or amber colored beer on the pour into a pilsner glass. It had a small head. I really didn’t get bowled over with the nose on this one after pouring. It smells of sweet malts. It tasted of sweet malts. It is smooth and creamy and you don’t pick up the alcohol levels at all.  It had notes of bread, caramel, metal and hops. All in all not a bad as it is very smooth – but nearly flat.
