Offbeat News: Iowa town protects self from keg damage

The Iowa town of Ames – home of Iowa State University – is rubberising their sidewalks to avoid any further damage from kegs. The Associated Press reports this:

The city is installing a rubber sidewalk alongside an Iowa State University campus-area fire station, which is a traditional drop-off and delivery point for bars in the area.

Beer distributors now unload hundreds of kegs at the spot every year, and over time they crack the concrete.

The best part is they are using discarded tires for the new sidewalks. I am guessing these sidewalks will also help drunk college kids avoid injury when falling out the bar doors.
