Review: Thomas Hooker Hop Meadow IPA

An India Pale Ale (IPA) brewed by
Thomas Hooker

Bloomfield, Connecticut USA

ABV: 6.5%

Glassware: Tulip or pint

Yea, for Connecticut. There are a couple good ones from Connecticut and I don’t always count on them coming from Thomas Hooker but this IPA was nice. This Hooker poured a dark amber color with a very small head. It was dark for an IPA. It smelled nice and hoppy and had a slight carmel and malt-like aroma as well. On taste it was smooth and hoppy but still had that big malt backbone that was quite interesting. This was a good IPA. The beer finishes a bit sweet (maybe carmel like flavors). A good well balanced IPA. I was surprised and satisfied.

Beer Advocate suggested food pairings: Cuisine (Curried, Thai) Cheese (peppery; Monterey / Pepper Jack, sharp; Blue, Cheddar, pungent; Gorgonzola, Limburger) Meat (Poultry, Fish, Shellfish, Salmon)

My ratebeer.com score: 3.5
