Review: Stoudts Smooth Hoperator

A Doppelbock brewed by
Stoudts Brewing Co.

Adamstown, Pennsylvania USA

ABV: 7.2%

Glassware: Stem Glass

A nice malt and hop aroma on pour from a 12 oz. bottle. It pours a copper or amber like color with a small head. It tastes slightly bitter but surprisingly smooth. It tastes both piney and malty at the same time. Body starts sweet and toasty caramely with a good bittering hop balance toward a smooth bittersweet finish that hides the alcohol fairly well.  A great mix here and one interesting doppelbock.

Beer Advocate food pairing suggestions: Cuisine (German) Cheese (buttery; Brie, Gouda, Havarti, Swiss, earthy; Camembert, Fontina) General (Chocolate) Meat (Game)

My score: 4
